This is a popular, energetic keyboard programme aimed at developing the emerging musician. Learning activities include singing, musical games, percussion, performance and learning to read music.
Students cover a seven-book course during their time with us. By the end of this course, they will be able to play various styles of music at the level of a professional musician.
Piano and flute lessons are offered to prepare you for the grade examinations of Trinity College of Music, London. Mere learn-and-play is also an option, no experience is required to begin.
Junior Music Keyboard / Piano (General course)
Graded Contemporary Keyboard / Piano (General course)
Our programmes cover several areas: you will learn scales and chords; music theory, sight-reading and ear-training; musical knowledge and arrangement; rhythms and sounds; plus the functions and features of digital keyboards.
Progress reports are made for students twice yearly. We offer comprehensive music examinations as well from junior to advanced levels, which are not absolutely necessary but recommended as a great way to consolidate all aspects of musicianship.
Mini concerts are held throughout the year for students to develop playing confidence and experience, as well as to give parents/caregivers a chance to hear their child perform. All our students are encouraged to participate in these events, family and friends are welcome to attend.
At Hawkes Bay Music School, we offer several musicianship programmes. All courses are flexible; you are able to have a mix of styles if you prefer:
